Add a CommentEntertaining. It ties in nicely with the original. The monster effects are a bit funny (you'd think they could be less campy in 2012), but it's worth watching.
any high tech idea ? no just a light will do me good
I saw the original b/w version from the 50s and said WOW. I later saw John Carpenters re-make and said WOW. Now I just saw the prequil of John C version and have said WOW, the perfect prequel. This just blends in so well John C would be proud. Hollywood should make an award just to give them one.
The first half of the movie I really liked. While I haven't seen the original (or at least the John Carpenter one from what, 1980?), this prequel/remake was still a lot of fun. It got pretty silly once the creature started attacking as the effects were more weird then scary. Could have had more suspense as to who was taken over by the creature too. But overall a fun horror/sci-fi movie.
Thoroughly entertaining. A respectable companion piece to John Carpenters classic.
Not as good as the original.
The original was a near perfect sci-fi/horror movie. This is a very good homage to that film, in prequel form, but not as good. Very good special effects and suspense. Well acted and shot in very realistic environs. If you had never seen the original, this movie may well present better, but as it stands it pales in comparison. I still highly recommend the movie to anyone who enjoys the sci-fi/horror genre.
Good - Prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing from the 1980s sees the same type of science fiction horror with great special effects and chills to make this a winning popcorn film.
